E-Teacher Program Call for FY2013-2014 Nominations

E-Teacher Program Description:
The E-Teacher Scholarship Program offers online, university-level classes to English teaching professionals outside of the United States through a U.S. university partner. The Office of English Language Programs announces the ninth offering of its acclaimed E-Teacher online courses that train foreign English language professionals in the latest U.S. methods of English language teaching via distance education. Participation is open to teachers worldwide. The 10-week courses will be offered in the fall of 2013 and the winter, spring, and summer of 2014, though not all nine courses will be offered each term. Tuition and materials will be paid by the U.S. Department of State.

Session Descriptions:
E-Teacher 10-week online courses are offered during four terms in Academic Year 2013-2014:
Fall 2013: October 7 – December 13
Winter 2014: January 6 – March 14
Spring 2014: April 7 – June 13
Summer 2014: June 23 – August 29

Application:
The deadline for submitting nominations for the Spring and Summer courses is December 13, 2013. Please fill in the attached E-Teacher application form and return it to the address indicated on the form by December 13, 2013.

Courses Description:
Please see the attached documents for detailed information about each course and the dates for each session.
 
Participants’ requirements:
• Be in-service, practicing EFL educators
• Be a citizen of and reside in the nominating country at the time of the course
• Not hold dual citizenship in the United States
• Have high intermediate to advanced level English language proficiency in all skill areas and be able to do academic work at a U.S. university (roughly equivalent to a paper TOEFL score of 525)
• Be committed to fulfilling all program requirements, including at least 8-10 hours to course work per week
• Have access 4-5 times per week minimum to reliable computers with high-speed Internet
• Have basic technology skills related to email, internet searches and downloads/uploads, logins/passwords, and e-file use (e.g., .pdf, MS Word, Excel). Practical Applications in Listening and Speaking Skills participants require access to real-time tools such as Skype.
